Project Objective: To streamline email security management by integrating Mimecast with ServiceNow through Custom API, enabling seamless automation for blocking restricted Senders.

Context: Mimecast provides robust email security solutions, but manual workflows for incident tracking in ServiceNow led to inefficiencies. Automating the integration aimed to centralize security operations and reduce manual intervention.

Implementation

1. Technical Overview
Tools and Technologies: Mimecast API, ServiceNow Flow Designer, Power Automate Cloud.

2. Integration Details:
Implemented Outbound API calls to fetch Incoming tickets on ServiceNow for Blocking Restricted Senders.
Captured the API through Power Automate and processed the data through Mimecast variables and updated under profile groups in the Mimecast application.

3. Solutions:
Batched API calls to adhere to rate limits while ensuring timely data fetch.
Designed custom transformation logic to align Mimecast data structures with ServiceNow.
Reduced the Mimecast connector cost by around $16K per year.
